Since my last post - many months ago - a lot has happened. I'm a new Grandma thanks to Ryan and Cortney! Little Noah came into the world on June 25th, the same day three other great men were born -- Patrick Ferry and Larry Sohn. If you know who these men are, make sure you wish them a happy birthday (now belated)! The sainted Dr. Rehwinkel (the third one born on that day) was a well-known prof at St. John's in Winfield, KS (a campus building was named after him).
I've been also busy knitting - I have many UFOs which need to be finished, including the one that I'm most diligently working on. It's a shawl for Hannah for her wedding. I hope to get this done by July 21 (wedding is July 24). It's a Debbie Macomber shawl named "A Wisp of Warmth" from her Friendship Shawls book.
I came upon the best website today for knitters. http://techknitting.blogspot.com/ Techknitting offers myriads of ideas and solutions for knitters who need help or are looking for something to add pizzazz to their knitting. It's too bad I didn't learn about this site earlier - would've loved to have won the Addi clicks!
It's nearing the middle of July and it feels like summer is half over. My brother's birthday is Thursday this week (Happy Birthday Bill!) Many things are happening in the next few weeks - the church picnic, a family reunion, Noah's baptism, and Ryan's installation into his vicarage placement. In the meantime, the other grands - Sammy and Preston - keep Gigi (me) as busy as possible. They're a treat to have around. It's neat to see the world through their eyes. Sammy made me a picture today of a rainbow, a sun with two clouds, and a friendly snake. These were ideas which just popped into his mind. The pic is on my fridge.

Winding Down
Since I've last written, many events have been completed: dessert receptions, commencement, groundbreaking, Rotary lunches, retirement dinners. It has been a whirlwind of activity and lots of fun meeting new people. One huge highlight was meeting one of my favorite authors -- Debbie Macomber. She signed four books for me. I enjoy her Cedar Cove series and her Blossom Street series -- maybe because of the families and knitting (of course). In my next post I'll upload pics. In the future, I'll upload some favorite links and my finished projects.

A Long Week
It has been a long time since I've posted, and a lot has been going on! Hannah, my daughter, did a marvelous job on the baby shower for Cortney, my daughter-in-law. It has also been a busy week getting the plans finalized for Concordia's employee dinner tonight at the Harley-Davidson Museum in Milwaukee.
I've been working on two shawls from Debbie Macomber's Friendship Shawls booklet. I'm knitting "A Hug to Keep" and "A Wisp of Warmth." Both are truly beautiful. "Hug" is for Cortney and "Wisp" is for by boss' daughter, Hannah. She will, I hope, wear it at her wedding on July 24.

Showers and more Showers
The last couple days have been blessed by rain showers. We need the rain badly - I can hear the farmers rejoicing! Today looks like rain as well. By the end of the week, though, will be another shower -- this time a baby shower! My daughter-in-law, Cortney, will be blessed with tons more baby stuff and should be ready for Noah's arrival. Ryan will be here as well. It will be good to see both of them again. Quick and easy baby items to knit or crochet are on the list to do. This will be grandson #3.

The Day of Banquets
Today, on the Lord's Day, is a day of banquets. The first is Holy Communion at church, the second is a retirement brunch for a friend from work, and the third is the church bowling league's end of the season banquet tonight. There are feasts galore!

It's my First Day!
It's the first day of my new blog! I'm hoping to share some news and some photos. I love to knit and will hopefully add pics of my finished projects along the way as well.
It's my First Day!
It's the first day of my new blog! I'm hoping to share some news and some photos. I love to knit and will hopefully add pics of my finished projects along the way as well. Why Gi Gi? That's what my grandson, Samuel, calls me. I don't exactly know why - but I've gotten used to him calling me that!
